Shaping Success with ABA Therapy
ABA therapy services begin with an initial consultation between parent(s) and a BCBA. The analyst will ask questions and discuss your child's current behaviors and skills. If after the initial consult the parent and BCBA decide that ABA therapy is appropriate for your child they will schedule an observation and assessment. The observation and assessment can take up to 3-4 hours, and take place in the setting where most behavior, usually in the home.
After observation and assessment the BCBA will develop an individualized treatment plan to address any behavioral excesses and skill deficits. After reviewing this plan and making any necessary changes the therapy schedule will be created. While we try to accommodate schedules as much as possible we may not be able to schedule sessions at your preferred times.
All sessions are conducted in a one-on-one format with a therapist. Goals are gradually introduced and detailed data is collected on every target run during session. BCBAs analyze the data to determine if teaching procedures are effective or need modification. We believe that best practice is to provide parent/caregiver training so that you are equipped to work with your child and implement behavioral programs at home. Parent training is also closely monitored by the BCBA. Every six months parents and BCBAs sit down to discuss current goal progress. Reassessment and treatment plans are conducted annually.
Positive Behavioral Parenting
While ABA therapy is a long term treatment that may not be appropriate for your family's needs, we still use principles of ABA in a more short term intervention called behavioral parenting. This is the best option for targeting acute issues like, tantrums, potty training, sleep training, picky eating, etc. Just like ABA this service begins with an initial parent interview followed by observation and assessment of the issue or behavior by a BCBA. A behavioral intervention plan will be developed and reviewed, and following parent approval sessions will begin. The goal of behavioral parenting services is to teach and train the parent(s) or caregiver(s) of the child how to successfully implement the procedures in order to create behavior change.
Young Adult Job Coaching
Using the science of behavior, we teach the social and professional skills required to be gainfully employed. This service is for young adults with ASD or related disabilities that desire to enter the workforce. A prerequisite for this service is the ability to accept feedback related to performance.
A BCBA will conduct an initial assessment of the individuals social and work related skills, provide real world training at a job site, assist with job interviews, facilitate transition to the job, and provide on going training, until they are able to fade out and the client is able to perform their job independently. After fading out, the BCBA will periodically follow up with the client, their family, and managers to ensure success.
Paving the Path for Reading Success
We combine the science of reading with the science of behavior in order to improve reading skills for individuals of all ages and ability levels. Reading skills services begin with an assessment of current skill level across the reading skill domains. After assessment a BCBA will develop an individualized plan to address any skills deficits or problem areas to focus on. Sessions are conducted in a 1 to 1 ratio where the total focus is on your child's learning. Frequency of sessions will be determined based on need, and sessions typically last an hour in duration. This service is for individuals that do not engage in moderate or severe maladaptive behavior.
School Consultation and Advocacy
Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts are available for consultation in the public, charter, and private school settings whether the need is for an individual student, classroom, or school level. Our BCBAs will observe and assess in order to develop an intervention plan that is effective and feasible for teachers and staff to implement. We provide training to ensure accurate implementation as well as ongoing support and monitoring for effectiveness.
If your student has special needs our BCBAs are also available to attend Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings in order to advocate for your student's behavioral supports and appropriate IEP goals.
